1
Install and connect the Shopify app
Open Bily in the Shopify App Store, install it on the intended store, and approve the requested access. Return to Bily and select the company workspace that owns this store.Complete the Shopify connection in Bily. The Web Pixel does not require pasting a custom pixel or script into your theme.
2
Enable Bily in your published theme
In Shopify, open Online Store > Themes and open the editor for your published theme. Select App embeds, turn on Bily Storefront, and select Save.If Bily provides an activation link for your store, it opens this editor with the embed selected. You still need to save the change.
Installing the app makes the embed available. Opening the editor or seeing a preview does not activate it on the live store; saving the published theme does.
3
Verify activity on the live storefront
Open the public storefront outside the theme editor. Follow your store’s consent choices, visit a product, and add an item to the cart. Remove the test item afterward.Return to Bily’s Watch events arrive setup step and confirm fresh activity for the selected store. If events are absent, follow tracking troubleshooting before completing setup.Confirm both the saved embed setting and the expected events. Web Pixel events alone do not prove that the theme embed is active, and a saved embed alone does not prove that events arrive.
4
Connect your destinations
Continue Bily’s guided setup to connect the ad and analytics services you use. Verify the intended events and destinations with the verification checklist.
Migrate an existing installation
Existing customers use the same App embeds > Bily Storefront > Save step on their published theme. Shopify stops accepting new or updated ScriptTags on October 1, 2026. It stops loading existing ScriptTags on March 1, 2027. Complete the theme-embed migration before that second date. These dates apply to Shopify’s ScriptTag API; Web Pixels and theme app embeds are the replacement paths. See Shopify’s deprecation notice.Resolve an incomplete connection
- Bily Storefront is missing: confirm that Bily is installed on the same store whose published theme you are editing. Refresh the editor after completing installation.
- Shopify requests permissions or reconnection: finish that flow, return to Bily, and repeat verification. An older connection can require reconnection before a missing Web Pixel can be restored.
- The store is paused or unavailable: restore store access in Shopify before retrying setup.
- You publish a different theme: check the Bily embed in that theme and verify the live storefront again.
